About the Students

School Trips to Nottingham:

Why are the students visiting the UK?

Students travel to the UK on school trips in order to enhance their understanding and appreciation of English culture. By doing so they are able to practice their language skills within their host family as well as visiting attractions and places of interest during the daytime.

When do these trips take place?

Most of the student trips take place between January and June, particularly between March and May with occasional visits between July and December.

How long do they stay?

Students generally stay with you in your home for either 3 or 4 nights with the coach arriving on a Monday evening and leaving on a Thursday or Friday morning. Sometimes, there are longer trips of up to 7 days.
Host families collect their students between 6:30 – 7:00pm at the designated collection/drop-off point in West Bridgford and then drop them back the following morning between 07.30 -08.00am.
The 7 day trips are usually older students who use public transport without the need of daily pick up/drop-off.
Students are out all day on the coach from 8am to approximately 7pm under the supervision of the tour guide and teachers whilst they visit attractions and places of interest in Central England. Usually they will have one late night when they will need to be picked up from the drop off point at 8pm (no evening meal is required on this night).

Who is responsible for the students?

Students are accompanied on their trip by a tour guide and teachers from their school. The teachers are ultimately responsible for the students, however, during the time that they are staying with you (from collection in the evening to drop off in the morning) you are responsible for their care. They need adult supervision and should not be left on their own or allowed out on their own at night.
Host families are not expected to deal with any student issues without reference to the teachers or leaders and are provided with relevant contact numbers in the event of any emergency.
We also have a local team who meet and greet the coach and host families each morning and evening to ensure that the student transfers run smoothly.
You are not left alone, we are at the coach drop off and pick up each day for any general queries.

Independent Students to Nottingham:

If you’d prefer having an older student then that’s absolutely fine. We have students who are here to improve their general English, to prepare for an IELTS exam, for work experience or even their first term of university . They often stay from 2-24 weeks and you can choose how long you wish for them to stay with your flexibility in mind.
